Wafaa Bilal, etc.

At first I didn't think that Mr. Bilal was very compelling. At first glance, his game doesn't seem very well thought out, and gives the impression that he simply went for the shock value of publicly releasing a game that put the player in the role of a terrorist. If the game had just been that, like I assume the version he hacked was, then I would not have been impressed at all. However, once I understood the twist he put on the game, I began to think that it was actually a very well thought-out project. I think that my immediate reaction reflected the response of the protesters who came on behalf of the Troy Department of Public Works. Most of them didn't know much about the game, and jumped to conclusions about it as a brash statement against the U.S. rather than a potential educational tool that came from perhaps the most informed source possible.

robots!

I have finally gotten the enemies to spawn. Perhaps my goal is in reach after all. I still need to work on collision detection and making the robots explode, then loading screens. I have a lot to do, but my hope has been restored.. at least to some extent.

Having problems getting everything working together. I wish I could have run into this problem much earlier so that I would have plenty of time to figure it out. Anyway, here is a still what the game will essentially look like.. minus a few important details.

Update

Well, its been a while, and a lot has happened since I last posted. I have developed the idea behind my game, and have made significant progress in its creation. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of work that needs to get done. I have expanded my character sprite sheet to include a lot of poses that were not originally included. I have made a fully functional flash file where you can control the main character, making him run, crouch, jump and kick. Next, I have to create the environment and the enemies. It that proves too difficult, I'll have to re-work this a little bit.
